This photograph shows the interior of an electro-mechanical signal box at a station on the double-track Barcelona to Port Bou via Mataro "Coast" line of the former Madrid, Zaragoza & Alicante. The signalling along this line is automatic, and the signals protecting the station are controlled by the four miniature levers on the left. The pointwork is worked by the double-wire principle by the "barrel" frame to the right.
