The two locations shown here may not be representative of all of the signalling found in South Africa, but all the indications are that from its British and Dutch influences, it chose the latter to steer its signalling. Not exclusively so, though, for the lever descriptions are written in English and using British terminology, and some British block instruments are in evidence.
