The small signal box at Hobart Junction controlled the terminus at Hobart. The line from here to Claremont was the only double-track on the island of Tasmania, with several intermediate block posts.

A view of the 15-lever McKenzie & Holland lever frame and the
instrument shelf. In the centre is the Tyer's one-wire three-position block
working to Botanical Gardens box, with a track circuit indicator and a signal
repeater to the right of it.
