Signal boxes of the
WELSHPOOL & LLANFAIR RAILWAY

Only one proper signal box was ever provided on the this narrow gauge railway - all other signalling was controlled by ground frames.

Castle Caereinion This one box was constructed by Tyer & Co., and despite closure as long ago as 1911 it has survived to be the sole representative of their architecture. Originally, the window area would have stretched the full length of the front wall. The box is mounted on a brick base.

The Welshpool & Llanfair became part of the Great Western Railway in 1923.
