The box at New Hythe is effectively a baby version of Dorking - it is just too small to justify the curved corners and the additional accommodation space was not required.
It opened in 1939, controlling additional sidings for local industrial activity.
The box contains a Stevens & Sons frame of 20 levers, and at one time it was manned regularly as it controlled a level crossing. Since the closure of the crossing, the box has seen little use, although it is still maintained and available for use if required.
