| THE SIGNAL BOX |
BLOCK SYSTEM |
Goods Loop Counter
It appears to have been converted from a Tyer & Co pulse driven train describer. The device operated in connection with the operation of the signal levers in and out of the loop. The two plungers on the shelf below were marked "Plunger to record train off" and "Plunger to cancel bell only". two sealed emergency releases in the wooden cases are marked "Up Loop emergency cancelling plunger" and "Emergency plunger to record train in Up Loop" to allow the instrument to be corrected should it become out of phase. The instrument illustrated was located at Great Chesterford, more details of which will be found in the Photo Gallery. |
